In democracy, it is not simply enough to inform voters about election dates. In order to help the electorates take an informed decision, it is quintessential to sensitise them about the importance of participating in the electoral process. Moreover, voters need to be educated about the process and made aware of the political parties, their manifestos, backgrounds of the contesting candidates and armed with several other information to help them cast an ‘enlightened’ vote. To sensitize the voters about the importance of participation in an electoral process and to ensure a responsive, accountable and democratically elected government government of India has decided to celebrate January 25 every year as 'National Voters' Day' (राष्ट्रीय मतदाता दिवस).

In these context National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Pharmacy, Akurdi, Pune has conducted various programme to create voting awareness in common people with the significance to encourage more young voters to actively take part in the election process to create transparent democratic nation.
