Yoga is an ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice that originated in India. The word ‘yoga’ derives from Sanskrit and means to join or to unite, symbolizing the union of body and consciousness. Folding of both hands in the logo Symbolise Yoga, the union, which reflects the union of individual Consciousness with that of universal Consciousness, a perfect harmony between mind & body, man & nature; a holistic approach to health & well being. The brown leaves symbolise the Earth element, the green leaves symbolise the Nature, blue symbolises the Water element, brightness symbolises the Fire element and the Sun symbolise the source of energy and inspiration. The logo reflects harmony and peace for humanity, which is the essence of Yoga.
Yoga is very necessary and beneficial for all human beings if it is practiced by all on daily basis includes, increased muscle strength and tone with flexibility, improved respiration, energy and vitality maintaining a balanced metabolism and weight reduction, cardio and circulatory health and improved athletic performance
  
The theme of 5th International Yoga Day 2019 is "Climate Action". Climate Action theme focuses on the way how yoga can help us to solve the problem of climate change and also it bring lot more benefits into the lives of people. It is necessary to work towards climate change. The sense of respect for mother earth overcomes regular yoga practitioners that will help people to act in a certain way at home and working environment to work and build better future.  Keeping in this healthy mind Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Pharmacy, Akurdi, Pune 411044 has celebrated International Yoga Day in college. All faculties, teaching and non teaching staff and students have taken active participation in Yoga day. Yoga trainer Mrs. Balkavade conducted various sessions on this occasion. The students from Third Year B.Pharmacy had performed street play on Importance on Yoga.
