Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi Thursday launched a nation-wide Fit India Movement on National Sports Day. Stressing on the need to be fit, PM Modi said that a healthy India is his goal and called for a strict control on people's lifestyles. He also emphsasised on the importance of fitness, especially in the times we live in and added that people must change their mindsets when it comes to physical fitness. The inaugural event was held at Indira Gandhi Stadium Complex in New Delhi, where the PM administered a fitness pledge to the people of the country. Fit India Movement is aimed at encouraging people to give priority to sports and fitness in their day-to-day lives.
Fit India Movement is a nation-wide campaign that aims at encouraging people to include physical activity and sports in their everyday lives. The University Grants Commission has directed the universities across the country to prepare for the Fit India Movement. Keeping in mind the live telecast of Fit India Movement was organised by Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Pharmacy in seminar hall where all the students of B. Pharm, M. Pharm faculty and non teaching staff had taken active participation.
The way to make India a great nation is only possible through a healthy person, healthy family and healthy society. Ahead of the event launch, Minister of State (Independent Charge) Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju had tweeted, "Tremendous supports are coming from all sections of the society to participate in the Fit India Movement." The session included a live telecast of programme on DD National and later on Rally was organised by the students to spread the awareness and fervent intensity of exercise all over the campus. We have made an walking attempt of 10,000 steps all over the campus. Dr. Devendra Shirode and National Service Scheme volunteers made this event successful.
